Donate today and empower our students to become fully integrated into U.S. Society
Through our two primary programs, Integrated English (IE) and industry-specific Workforce Development (WFD) training programs, PODER provides comprehensive adult literacy and workforce development programming. Together with our wrap-around student support services, enrichment workshops, and community outreach initiatives, PODER is providing Spanish-speaking adults on Chicago’s southwest side with a holistic range of services that empower them with the skills and resources needed to be economically independent and fully integrated in U.S. society.
Our Integrated English program ensures students are civically engaged members of society. Trips to the library and introductions to community services are just a few activities implemented in our classrooms.
Our Integrated English instructors utilize the Ventures textbook series for grammar lesson guidance. All students receive a textbook and accompanying workbook to advance their English language acquisition.
PODER offers a Customer Service job training course that prepares students for employment in our social enterprise, Oprima-1, or other entry-level employment. Students develop resumes with professionals in the HR and recruiting industries.
Technology is an integral part of all of our programs and we strive to eliminate the digital divide facing the Latino community. Students spend time daily on computers or tablets to build digital literacy and workplace technology skills.
