Altar Virtual de Dia de los Muertos - PODER

Altar Virtual de Dia de los Muertos

We’ve created our first ever “Altar Virtual”!

The Day of the Dead is celebrated in several different ways within the Latino Community. In Ecuador, families prepare a special drink “Colada Morada” made from purple corn along with a special bread “Guaguas de Pan”. In Peru, families spend the day at the cemetary visiting their loved ones. In Mexico, altars are built with images of their loved ones and small offerings “ofrendas” are placed on the altar. It’s a tradition PODER wanted to help continue amidst our current social distancing due to COVID-19.

Would you like to honor a loved one in our virtual Dia de los Muertos altar?

Special thanks to DePaul University and their Spanish language The DePaulia newspaper for highlighting PODER’s first ever virtual community altar. Read the story here.
